REFRESHING QUOTE

"Hard times don't create heroes. It is during the hard times when the 'hero' within us is revealed." -- Bob Riley

UPLIFTING SCRIPTURE

John 14:1-4

“Do not let your hearts be troubled.  You believe  in God;  believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there  to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back  and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.  You know the way to the place where I am going.”

ENCOURAGING QUOTE FROM THE GREAT CONTROVERSY

"The season of distress and anguish before us will require a faith that can endure weariness, delay, and hunger-a faith that will not faint though severely tried....Those who exercise but little faith now, are in the greatest danger of falling under the power of satanic delusions and the decree to compel the conscience....We should now acquaint ourselves with God by proving His promises. Angels record every prayer that is earnest and sincere. We should rather dispense with selfish gratifications than neglect communion with God. The deepest poverty, the greatest self-denial, with His approval, is better than riches, honors, ease, and friendship without it. We must take time to pray. If we allow our minds to be absorbed by worldly interests, the Lord may give us time by removing from us our idols of gold, of houses, or of fertile lands.  (GC, p. 621-622)

March 19, 2020

Hello everyone, we wanted you to know that even in this time of crisis we are all going through, we have a God who is loving, merciful, and who is there for us. We CANNOT forget that.

Beginning Monday we are starting a prayer phone call at 6:15 a.m. More details will come soon.

Until then, we can claim  these promises in God’s Word:

Hebrews 4:16 "Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Isaiah 40:31 "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

The pastors and elders encourage us all to pray the promises of God, so that you and your families can be comforted by His Word and His Presence.

It is very important right now to remain strong, stay connected to each other, stay positive and hopeful, and stay healthy.

Remember, you are not alone. If you need to talk to someone, reach out to us. We are family.

If you're reading this, we'd like to pray with you…

O, our great and awesome God, hear our prayers and petitions for Your help. Keep each of our families safe; protect them. Keep all of our families out of danger. Give strength to all the health care providers who are involved with patient care. Lord, we make this request of You because you are our God and we are Your children. We ask for your mercy and help during this difficult time. Strengthen us as we go through this time, and prepare us for your soon return.

We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

Dear San Diego Central SDA Church Family and Friends,

Because we received notification from the Southeastern California Conference that it is recommended that we suspend in-person church services through March 31, 2020, the San Diego Central SDA Church Pastors and Elders agreed to go with the recommendation.

As a result, will live stream our worship service at 11:30 a.m. on March 14, 21, and 28.

To view the live stream worship, visit: https://livestream.com/sdcsda

We will not hold face-to-face worship services at San Diego Central SDA Church, 13940 Pomerado Road, Poway, on March 14, 21, and 28.

We will, however, live stream a simple worship service with music, singing, prayer, and a sermon, at 11:30 a.m. on March 14, 21, and 28. There will be no Sabbath School classes, Growth and service, children's programming, or potluck on the next three Sabbaths in March.

If visitors do come on those days, we will have a greeter at the door to provide personal communication of the situation.

If you wish to pay your tithe and offering you can do so from our website by following this link: https://adventistgiving.org/#/org/ANPMIM/envelope/start

We are communicating updates at the following locations:

  1. Our website: https://www.sandiegocentralsdachurch.org
  2. Our Facebook Member Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/149479695162598/

Please know that your pastors, elders, and church ministry leaders at SDCSDA are praying for you all individually and as a church family. We have to trust God during this time, even more than ever.

We can gain strength from the life of Daniel, in Daniel 10:16-19. BE STRONG!

16 Then one who looked like a man touched my lips, and I opened my mouth and began to speak.  I said to the one standing before me, “I am overcome with anguish  because of the vision, my lord, and I feel very weak.

17 How can I, your servant, talk with you, my lord? My strength is gone and I can hardly breathe.”

18 Again the one who looked like a man touched  me and gave me strength.  19 “Do not be afraid, you who are highly esteemed,”  he said. “Peace!  Be strong now; be strong.”

When he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Speak, my lord, since you have given me strength.”

If you would like prayer during this time, please contact Pastor Hwi Kim, Pastor Joshua Bae, Elder Tae Im, Elder Brenda Boyd, Elder Daniel So, Elder Janice Hensel, or Elder Becky Tanag.

MARCH 12, 2020, 9:30 p.m.

Dear San Diego Central SDA Church Family and Friends,

Today we received notification from the Southeastern California Conference President, Sandy Roberts, that we are to suspend in-person church services through March 31, 2020.

Here are some excerpts from the email message to pastors…

        ———————————————————————————

“The Governor of the State of California has asked that all public gatherings of 250 or more be cancelled or postponed.

The conference officers met this morning and decided to go a step further and recommend to ALL of our churches regardless of size that they suspend in-person worship services and meetings and move to online worship and meetings through March 31, 2020.  We already recommended last night that all non-essential meetings be cancelled.

The reason for this is our strong value as a conference, as communities of faith, we have an obligation to care for the most vulnerable in our churches, our families, and our communities.  By stopping these gatherings, we are then doing our part to stop the spread of an illness that could harm or kill those vulnerable people. We recognize this recommendation is bringing disruption. It challenges us to think of different ways to minister to our church families through this period.”

        ———————————————————————————

This means that for March 14, 21, and 28, we will not hold face-to-face worship services at San Diego Central SDA Church, 13940 Pomerado Road, Poway.

We will, however, live stream a simple worship service with music, prayer, and a sermon, at 11:30 a.m. on March 14, 21, and 28. There will be no Sabbath School classes, Growth and service, or potluck on the next three Sabbaths in March.

If visitors do come on those days, we will have a greeter at the door to provide personal communication of the situation.

To view the live stream worship, visit: https://livestream.com/sdcsda

If you wish to pay your tithe and offering you can do so from our website by following this link: https://adventistgiving.org/#/org/ANPMIM/envelope/start

We are communicating updates at the following locations:

  1. Our website: https://www.sandiegocentralsdachurch.org
  2. Our Facebook Member Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/149479695162598/

        ———————————————————————————

For your own health and safety, keep in mind the following:

1. Public health officials continue to recommend social distancing of 6 feet at any gathering regardless how small.

2. Please follow the hygiene guidelines of proper hand-washing, sanitation, and cleaning.

Our conference president, Sandy Roberts, reminds us of this: “What an opportunity for the body of Christ to rush in with the tremendous HOPE we have in Jesus.  During this time, it is helpful to get rest and boost your immunity through every day healthy habits as we continue to trust in our God.”

Please know that your pastors, elders, and church ministry leaders at SDCSDA are praying for you so that you have a peaceful, calming presence in a time of high anxiety. We have to trust God during this time, even more than ever.

If you would like prayer during this time, please contact Pastor Hwi Kim, Pastor Joshua Bae, Elder Tae Im, Elder Brenda Boyd, Elder Daniel So, Elder Janice Hensel, or Elder Becky Tanag.

Most sincerely,

The Pastors and the Elders of San Diego Central SDA Church
